Here are the best beer with tequila combinations, in our humble opinion.
Of course, most of us have heard the phrase, “beer before liquor, never sicker”, so we here at Types of Tequila suggest you proceed with caution! Generally speaking, we believe that you should usually pair your tequila with a lighter beer; both for taste and to avoid a bad hangover the next day.
Something to note – yes, we have stayed with mass-produced, large-scale beers in this list. The reason for this is simple: this is a global website, so it doesn’t do a lot of good to recommend beers that only a small percentage of our readers can realistically get their hands on.
Believe it or not, we are actually huge beer fanatics in our spare time!
And if that doesn’t make us sound like alcoholics…heh.
Without further ado, here are our favorite cervezas con tequila!
Beer with Tequila Combination #5 – Tecate
While Tecate is coming in last of our top 5, we recommend sticking with the normal Tecate instead of Tecate Light; if you go with TL you might as well just drink water – it’s that watered down.
Beer with Tequila Combination #4 – Heineken
It might be weird to have a Dutch beer on our best beer with tequila list, but Heineken pairs with just about anything. It’s light lager flavor is quite versatile and can go with any number of food and beverage pairings, including our beloved tequila.
Beer with Tequila Combination #3 – Dos Equis
The Dos Equis Lager is nothing special as far as mass-produced beer, but we’re very partial to the Dos Equis Amber – one of the better mass produced amber ales; we would go as far as to say it’s superior to most of the Sam Adam’s offerings.
Despite our earlier insistence that usually the lighter beers are best to pair with tequila, Dos Equis Amber proves that there are always exceptions to the norm.
Beer with Tequila Combination #2 – Modelo
The #1 spot could have easily been a coin flip between these last two and we wouldn’t have argued, but…
Beer with Tequila Combination #1 – Corona
…you have to go with the classic!
